Protein powder for beginners — your first tub, explained
You do not need a cupboard full of supplements. For most beginners the whole plan is: one protein powder, creatine if you lift, and consistent training. Start small so you find a flavour you actually enjoy — here are 24 smaller tubs from AED 110.

Five rules for your first protein
- Buy a small tub first (around 450 g – 1 kg) to test the flavour and your stomach.
- One scoop a day is enough to start — food still provides most of your protein.
- Water or milk, shaken for 10 seconds. After training or as a snack.
- Whey bloats you? Switch to an isolate or beef protein.
- Skip the fat burners and "anabolic" formulas in week one. Learn the basics first.
Ready to commit? The big 2 kg – 5 lb tubs are much cheaper per serving — compare them in our price table.
Frequently asked questions
What protein should a beginner buy?
A small tub of a well-known whey (Optimum Nutrition, Kevin Levrone, Army1, Pole) to find a flavour you like, plus creatine monohydrate if you lift weights.
How much protein powder should a beginner take?
One scoop a day on top of normal meals is a good start; increase only if you still fall short of your daily protein.
