The complete supplement guide for the UAE — what to take, which brand, and where to buy it

This is the guide we wish every customer read before walking into a supplement shop. It explains, in plain language, what whey protein, whey isolate, creatine, pre-workout, mass gainers, amino acids, vitamins, fat burners and protein snacks actually do, who they are for, how much to take and when, which brands are worth your money, and what everything costs at FORCE — the supplement store on University Street in Ajman that delivers to Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Every product we sell is 100% authentic, sourced from the official UAE distributors, and priced at the best rate in town. If you only want the short version: pick a combo pack for your goal, or message us on WhatsApp and we will build a stack for your goal and budget.

1. Supplements 101: what actually works

Supplements do not build muscle or burn fat on their own. Training, food and sleep do 90% of the work; supplements make the last 10% easier, faster and more consistent. The good news is that the list of supplements with real, repeatable evidence behind them is short, and everything on that list is affordable. In order of how much difference they make for most gym-goers in the UAE:

  1. Protein powder (whey, isolate, beef or plant) — the single most useful supplement, simply because most people do not eat enough protein. A scoop is 24–30 g of protein for around AED 4–8 per serving, which is cheaper than chicken breast per gram of protein and far more convenient at 6 AM or after a late session.
  2. Creatine monohydrate — the most researched sports supplement in the world. 3–5 g a day increases strength, power output, training volume and muscle fullness. It works for beginners and for advanced lifters, for men and for women, and it costs about AED 1 a day.
  3. Caffeine / pre-workout — the difference between a flat session and a great one when you are tired after work. Not necessary every day, very useful on the hard days.
  4. Mass gainers — only for people who genuinely cannot eat enough. If you are skinny and "eat a lot" but the scale does not move, a gainer shake between meals is the easiest 600–1,000 calories you will ever add.
  5. Vitamin D, omega-3, a multivitamin, magnesium/ZMA — not for performance directly, but the UAE lifestyle (indoors, air-conditioned, low sun exposure despite the sun) makes vitamin D deficiency extremely common. Fixing it improves energy, mood, recovery and testosterone in men.
  6. EAA/BCAA, glutamine, carbs during training — helpful in specific situations (fasted training, very long sessions, two-a-days, cutting), optional otherwise.
  7. Fat burners, carnitine, CLA — small effects that only show up on top of a real calorie deficit. Useful for appetite and energy while dieting, useless without the diet.

Everything else — test boosters, "anabolic" formulas, exotic herbs — is either a nice-to-have or marketing. We stock some of them because customers ask, and we will always tell you honestly what to expect.

2. How to choose a supplement (and what to ignore)

Start from your goal, not from the shelf. Want to build muscle? Protein + creatine, a pre-workout if you need energy. Want to gain weight? Gainer + creatine. Want to lose fat? Protein (isolate or beef, to stay full on fewer calories) + creatine to keep your strength + a fat burner or carnitine if you want help with appetite and energy. Want to simply stay healthy and fit? One protein shake a day, vitamin D, omega-3, a multivitamin. That is the whole decision tree — the rest is picking flavours and sizes.

Price per serving beats price per tub. A 5 lb tub of whey at AED 375 with 74 servings is AED 5 a scoop; a 908 g tub at AED 150 with 30 servings is AED 5 a scoop too — but a 2 kg bag of a cheaper blend at AED 270 with 66 servings is AED 4.1. Divide the price by the number of servings before you decide. Our product pages show servings in the details so you can compare.

Read the protein per scoop, not the front label. 24 g per 30 g scoop is 80% protein — that is a real whey. 20 g per 40 g scoop is 50% and the rest is carbs and filler. Isolates run 85–90%, hydrolysed isolates like Dymatize ISO100 go higher and digest fastest.

Authenticity is not negotiable. The UAE market has counterfeit tubs, especially of Optimum Nutrition and Dymatize, sold through unofficial channels at prices that look too good. Every tub at FORCE comes from the official distributor with the distributor sticker, an intact seal and a scannable batch code. See how to spot a fake below.

Ignore: proprietary blends that hide doses, "clinically proven" claims without a dose, and any powder promising 5 kg in a month. Also ignore the idea that you need ten products. Two or three well-chosen ones, used every day, beat a cupboard full of half-used tubs.

3. Whey protein & whey isolate

Whey is the protein fraction of milk, dried into a powder. It is complete (all nine essential amino acids), rich in leucine (the amino acid that switches muscle building on), digests quickly and tastes good, which is why it has been the number-one supplement for thirty years. We stock 81 protein products from AED 14 — concentrates, blends, isolates, hydrolysed isolates, casein, beef isolates and plant proteins.

Concentrate vs blend vs isolate vs hydrolysed

How much protein, when, and how to mix it

Aim for 1.6–2.2 g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day if you train (an 80 kg man: 130–175 g; a 60 kg woman: 95–130 g). Food first; the shake fills the gap. One scoop after training is the classic, but timing matters far less than the daily total — a shake at breakfast, between meals or before bed all work. Mix 1 scoop with 250–300 ml of cold water for the lightest shake, or milk for extra calories and a creamier taste. Add a banana, oats and peanut butter and it becomes a meal. Whey does not damage healthy kidneys; that myth comes from studies on people with existing kidney disease.

4. Beef protein isolate & lactose-free options

If whey upsets your stomach, gives you bloating, or you simply avoid dairy, you have three good options at FORCE: beef protein isolate, whey isolate (very low lactose) and plant protein. Beef isolate — NXT Beef Protein Isolate and Sporter Beef Protein Isolate — is hydrolysed beef protein with 26 g of protein per scoop, zero lactose, almost no fat or carbs, and (this surprises everyone) it is flavoured like a juice: Cola, Blue Raspberry, Raspberry Mango, Strawberry Watermelon, Tropical Fruit, Kiwi Lime. It mixes clear and light, no beefy taste at all. Sporter's 4 lb tub gives 60 servings at AED 265, and single sachets at AED 14 let you try a flavour before committing. NXT comes in 1.8 kg tubs and 1 kg bags and also as a ready-to-drink isolate. Plant protein (Army1 Vegan Protein, Rule 1 Plant Protein) is pea and rice, gluten-free and vegan, with 20 g per scoop.

Offer of the week at FORCE: buy any beef protein and get an energy drink free. NXT beef protein · Sporter beef protein

5. Mass gainers — how to gain weight when nothing works

"I eat a lot but I don't gain" is the most common thing we hear in the shop from lean guys in Ajman and Sharjah. The honest answer is that you are not eating as much as you think: a fast metabolism plus a small appetite means you are at maintenance, not in a surplus. You need 300–500 extra calories every day, consistently, for months. A mass gainer is the easiest way to get there: one shake with milk is 600–1,200 calories with 40–50 g of protein and 100–250 g of carbs, drunk in two minutes between meals when you could never eat that much food.

We stock 15 gainers. Rule 1 LBS is the heavy one — over 1,000 calories and 165 g carbs per serving for true hard gainers. Labrada Muscle Mass Gainer and Rule 1 Mass Gainer are the balanced everyday choices. Kevin Levrone Mass 7 kg and Army1 Mass Squad 7 kg are the economical bulk bags with added creatine. Applied Nutrition Critical Mass is the lean gainer for people who want size with less fat. Add 3–5 g of creatine daily and the scale moves faster still — see our weight-gain combos from AED 259. For very hard gainers we also recommend Carbo Fuel (Nuclear Nutrition) during training: 46 g of fast carbs per serving that you drink, not chew.

Weight-gain plan that works: 3 real meals + 1 gainer shake (2–3 scoops in 500 ml full-fat milk) between lunch and dinner + creatine every day + 3–4 heavy training sessions a week (squat, deadlift, press, row) + 7–8 hours of sleep. Weigh yourself weekly; if the average is not up 0.3–0.5 kg, add another half shake.

6. Creatine — the supplement everyone should take

Creatine monohydrate has more published studies than any other sports supplement, and the conclusion is boring in the best way: it works, it is safe, and it is cheap. Your muscles store creatine as phosphocreatine, the energy system for short, hard efforts — the last two reps, the sprint, the heavy set. Supplementing tops the stores up by 20–40%, which shows up as 5–15% more strength and reps, better recovery between sets and 1–2 kg of extra water inside the muscle (fuller, not bloated).

How to take creatine

3–5 g every day, including rest days, at any time — with your shake, with a meal, in water. Loading (20 g a day for a week) fills the muscles faster but is not necessary; 5 g a day gets you there in 3–4 weeks. Drink normally. It does not damage kidneys in healthy people, it does not cause hair loss (the one small study that suggested it has never been replicated), it is fine for women and for people over 40 — in fact it helps both. If plain monohydrate upsets your stomach, take it with food or split the dose.

Which creatine?

All monohydrate is the same molecule, so buy on price per serving and how you like to take it. We stock 35 options: Optimum Nutrition Micronized Creatine (the classic), Applied Nutrition Creatine (flavoured or plain), Kevin Levrone Gold Creatine (powder and chewable tablets), Army1 Pure Creatine 300 g and 500 g, Muscle Rulz, Dexter Black Creatine (the cheapest at AED 65 for 50 servings), CR5 Creatine Gummies for people who hate powder, and Rule 1 Charged Creatine with caffeine for pre-training. Creapure-branded creatine is monohydrate made in Germany to a tighter purity spec — worth it if you want certainty, not necessary otherwise.

7. Pre-workout — energy, focus and pump

A pre-workout is a drink you take 20–30 minutes before training. The ingredients that matter: caffeine (150–300 mg, for energy and focus), beta-alanine (3–6 g, for endurance — the tingling is normal and harmless), citrulline or arginine (6–8 g, for blood flow and pump), betaine and taurine (performance and hydration), and often creatine. A good pre-workout turns a tired 9 PM session after work into a productive one. It is not something you need every day; use it on the hard days and keep your caffeine tolerance low so it keeps working.

We stock 61 pre-workouts. Applied Nutrition ABE (All Black Everything) is the UK's best seller and ours — 30 servings, flavours like Baddy Berry, Cherry Cola and Tropical. Redcon1 Total War is the hard-hitting American classic. Insane Labz Psychotic is for people who want maximum stimulant. Army1 Bazooka is the value high-stim option (40 servings). C5 Turbo, C5 Extreme and Rule 1 Pre Train 2.0 cover everyday, strong and balanced. Train late? C5 Night Pump is stimulant-free: full pump, no caffeine, you still sleep. Hate mixing? ABE shots, C5 shots, ABE gels and Army1 Bazooka shots are twist-and-drink for AED 10–12, and ABE energy drinks are the same idea in a can.

Safety: not for under-18s, pregnancy or heart conditions; do not double-scoop; count your coffee — two espressos plus a scoop is 400+ mg of caffeine. If you train after 8 PM, choose a stim-free pump formula or a half scoop.

8. BCAA, EAA, glutamine and intra-workout carbs

BCAAs (leucine, isoleucine, valine) are three of the nine essential amino acids; EAAs are all nine. If you already drink whey, you get plenty of both, so aminos are optional for most people. Where they help: training fasted (early morning, Ramadan), very long or double sessions, cutting on low calories where you want to protect muscle, and simply as a flavoured hydration drink that makes you drink more water in the UAE heat. EAAs are the better choice over BCAAs because they contain everything muscle needs; Rule 1 Essential Amino 9, Army1 EAA Complex, Applied Nutrition Amino Fuel and RAW Essentials EAA are our picks. Glutamine (5–10 g) supports gut health, recovery and immunity during hard blocks. Carbs during training — Nuclear Nutrition Carbo Fuel, EFX Karbolyn — keep energy up through long sessions, football, boxing and CrossFit, and help hard gainers get calories in. Electrolytes matter more here than anywhere: if you sweat in Sharjah in July, sodium and potassium are not optional.

All aminos & performance

9. Vitamins, omega-3, ZMA, joint support & health

The UAE has one of the highest rates of vitamin D deficiency in the world — over 80% of residents in some studies — because we live indoors, drive everywhere and cover up from the sun. Low vitamin D means low energy, poor recovery, weaker bones, worse mood and lower testosterone in men. Vitamin D3 (2,000–5,000 IU a day) is the first health supplement almost everyone here should take; Sporter Vitamin D3 5000 IU and Revive Vitamin D3 are in stock. Next: omega-3 fish oil (1–3 g EPA/DHA for heart, joints, brain and inflammation — Labrada, Sporter, Army1, Rule 1), a multivitamin as insurance (Rule 1 Men's and Women's, Army1, MuscleTech Platinum), magnesium or ZMA for sleep and recovery (Army1 ZMA Pro), and zinc for immunity and hormones (Sporter Zinc 50 mg). For joints under heavy loads: glucosamine + MSM (Army1 Joint Support) and collagen (Army1 Collagen). For sleep: melatonin (Army1 Sleep Well). Natural testosterone support: Army1 Test-X, Tribulus, Sporter Tongkat Ali, Ashwagandha KSM-66 — real but modest effects, best combined with sleep, vitamin D and zinc.

All vitamins & health (69)Maintain combos: whey + multi + omega-3

10. Fat burners, L-carnitine and CLA — how to lose weight the right way

No supplement burns fat by itself. Fat loss is a calorie deficit of 300–500 kcal a day, high protein (to stay full and keep muscle), strength training and steps. What supplements can do is make that deficit easier to stick to. Thermogenic fat burners (Army1 Burn It, Rule 1 Lean 5) are caffeine plus green tea and similar extracts: they blunt appetite, lift energy on low calories and add a small calorie burn. L-carnitine (Army1 Carni Liquid, Applied Nutrition Acetyl L-Carnitine, Amix Carni Shot) helps the body use fat for fuel, most useful before cardio. CLA (Army1 CLA, Applied CLA + Carnitine + Green Tea) has a modest effect on body composition. The protein choice matters as much as the burner: a whey isolate or beef isolate gives you 25 g of protein for 100–110 calories. Keep creatine in — losing strength on a diet is how people lose muscle.

Weight-loss plan that works: protein at every meal (1.8–2.2 g/kg), vegetables for volume, 8–10k steps, 3 strength sessions a week, one isolate shake a day, creatine daily, a fat burner or carnitine before training if you want the extra help. Weigh weekly; aim for 0.5–0.8 kg a week. See our weight-loss combos from AED 275.

11. Protein bars, chips, cookies, shakes & energy drinks

The most-visited shelf in the shop: 105 high-protein, low-sugar snacks that make a diet survivable. Barebells bars and shakes (the best-tasting bars in the market), Grenade, Bombbar (bars, cookies, pancakes, sauces), SnaqFabriq wafers, cookies, candy and mini-bars, Glazed wafers, Applied Nutrition bars, Army1 bars, protein chips from Pro Grill, Pro Puffs and Bite&More, protein pancakes, cream of rice, zero-sugar sauces, plus energy drinks from Ghost, ABE, Adonis and Sporter. Read the label the same way as a powder: 20 g protein for under 200 calories is a real protein bar; 10 g protein and 25 g sugar is a chocolate bar with a gym logo.

12. Gym accessories & gym wear

Not just supplements. Lifting belts (10 mm leather lever belt for squats and deadlifts; 6-inch nylon belt for functional training), gym gloves with wrist wrap, knee sleeves (7 mm neoprene) and knee wraps, wrist wraps for pressing, elbow sleeves, lifting straps and padded wrist straps, chalk, boxing gloves and hand wraps, gym bags (40 L duffel with shoe compartment, 45 L tactical backpacks in black, green and red), insulated steel water bottles (750 ml and 1 L — cold water for 24 hours in the UAE heat), a 2.2 L gym jug, plastic sports bottles and shakers. Gym wear from AED 10: men's gym t-shirts, shorts, joggers and slides, women's sports shirts and trousers.

14. Beginners, women, over-40s, teenagers and Ramadan

Complete beginners

Start with one small tub of whey (500 g – 908 g, to find a flavour you like) and a creatine. That is it. Learn the big lifts, eat protein at every meal, sleep. Add a pre-workout after a month if evening sessions are hard. Do not buy a fat burner in week one.

Women

Everything above applies exactly the same way — whey does not make women "bulky" (that takes years and a lot of food), and creatine is one of the best-studied supplements for women too (strength, bone density, mood). Popular choices in the shop: Dymatize ISO100 and Purity Isolate (lean, low-calorie), CR5 Creatine Gummies, C5 Night Pump (no jitters), Rule 1 Women's Multivitamin, collagen, Barebells. Our Women's Maintain Stack bundles isolate, a women's multi and vitamin D3.

Over 40

Protein needs go up, not down, as we age (muscle loss starts in the 30s). Whey after training and before bed, creatine daily (protects muscle and supports brain health), vitamin D and omega-3, collagen or glucosamine for joints, ZMA for sleep. Pre-workouts: choose a lower caffeine dose.

Teenagers (under 18)

Protein powder is just food and is fine. Creatine is safe but talk to a doctor first if under 16. No pre-workouts, fat burners, test boosters or energy drinks — we will not sell them to under-18s.

Training in Ramadan

Train before iftar (1–2 hours before) with EAAs at iftar, whey and creatine after; or train after taraweeh with a pre-workout and whey after. Creatine every day at suhoor or iftar keeps strength through the month. Electrolytes at suhoor. Gainers help people who lose weight in Ramadan; isolates help people who gain it.

17. How to spot fake supplements in the UAE

Counterfeit protein is a real problem in the UAE, especially for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, Dymatize ISO100, MuscleTech and Kevin Levrone. Fakes are made from cheap protein or even flour and sugar, sold in perfectly copied tubs. How to protect yourself:

FORCE guarantees authenticity: if any product we sell is ever proven not genuine, full refund. That guarantee is why customers from Abu Dhabi and Fujairah order from a shop in Ajman.

18. Frequently asked questions

Which whey protein is best in the UAE?

For most people Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey (blend) or Dymatize ISO100 (hydrolysed isolate). For value, Rule 1 Whey Blend or Kevin Levrone Anabolic Prime Pro. For lactose intolerance, a beef isolate (NXT, Sporter) or whey isolate (Purity, Rule 1 Isolate).

How much does whey protein cost in the UAE?

From AED 110 for a 454 g tub (Pole Whey) to AED 620 for ISO100 5 lb. Per serving, expect AED 4–8. FORCE prices are the best rate in town and every tub is authentic.

Is creatine safe? Does it cause hair loss or kidney damage?

Creatine monohydrate is safe for healthy adults at 3–5 g a day; hundreds of studies confirm it. It does not damage healthy kidneys and the hair-loss claim comes from one small unreplicated study. Drink normally.

When should I take creatine?

Any time, every day — with your shake, with food or in water. Consistency matters, timing does not. Loading is optional.

What is the best mass gainer for skinny guys?

Rule 1 LBS (1,000+ kcal per serving) for true hard gainers; Labrada or Rule 1 Mass Gainer for balanced gains; Kevin Levrone Mass or Army1 Mass Squad 7 kg for the best price per calorie; Applied Nutrition Critical Mass for leaner gains. Add creatine.

How do I gain weight fast?

Eat 300–500 kcal above maintenance every day, one gainer shake between meals, creatine daily, heavy training 3–4× a week, 7–8 hours sleep. Expect 0.3–0.5 kg a week.

What is the best pre-workout in the UAE?

Applied Nutrition ABE (best seller), Redcon1 Total War (hard hitting), Insane Labz Psychotic (maximum stim), Army1 Bazooka (value), C5 Night Pump (stim-free for late training).

Can I take pre-workout every day?

You can, but tolerance builds. Use it on hard days, take a week off every 6–8 weeks, keep total caffeine under 400 mg a day.

Which supplements help lose belly fat?

No supplement targets belly fat. A calorie deficit, high protein and training do. Supplements that help you stick to it: whey/beef isolate, creatine (keeps strength), L-carnitine, CLA, a thermogenic (Army1 Burn It, Rule 1 Lean 5).

Are supplements halal?

Whey, creatine, aminos and vitamins are generally halal; many products (Army1, Applied Nutrition, Sporter, Rule 1) carry halal certification. Ask us for the specific product — we check the certificate.

Do I need BCAAs if I take whey?

Usually no — whey already contains them. BCAAs/EAAs help when training fasted, cutting hard, or as a flavoured hydration drink.

What should a beginner take?

A small tub of whey and creatine monohydrate. Learn the lifts, eat protein, sleep. Add a pre-workout later if needed.

Which vitamins should I take in the UAE?

Vitamin D3 (most residents are deficient), omega-3, a multivitamin, magnesium/ZMA if sleep or cramps are an issue, zinc for immunity.

Is beef protein better than whey?

Not better — different. Same 26 g protein, zero lactose, juice-like flavours, easier on the stomach. Choose it if whey bloats you or you avoid dairy.
